This is the fanlisting for the relationship between Kamina Ayato & Shitow Haruka from the anime series Rahxephon. It has been approved by The Anime Fanlistings (partners with TheFanlistings.org) and is also a part of Anime Fanlistings Directory. It was opened in May 2004 and is run and maintained by Rosemary.

Ayato & Haruka?

Newly Updated May 2005 - There are large differences in the relationship between Ayato & Haruka depending on which version of RahXephon (anime, manga, movie) you are talking about. I have now added info about their relationship in the manga and movie versions as well :)
Anime
At the beginning of the RahXephon series, Haruka rescues Ayato from Tokyo Jupiter during Operation Overlord (Tokyo Jupiter is the name given to Tokyo, which was taken over by the MU). As the series progresses the relationship between these two characters intensifies and plays a large role in the main plot.
Why is there such a strong bond and fascination between these characters? 12 years ago Haruka and Ayato knew each other. They both went to school together in Tokyo before it was taken over by the MU. In fact, they were in love and dated. Haruka was outside of the capital the day it was taken over (this is found out during the RahXephon movie).
Haruka never forgot Ayato, her one, true love. She joined TERRA specifically so she may one day have the chance to once again be with Ayato. Episode 23 of RahXephon is my favorite, as it shows how much both Ayato & Haruka care for each other. Ayato tells Haruka that he may not remember loving her in the past, but that she is the woman he loves in the present.
We find out towards the end of the series, that the woman he has been painting all along who seems to be Mishima Reika is actually Haruka. That was how she looked tweleve years ago, and Reika is actually Haruka's old name (her mother had later remarried). The reason Ishitori (Mishima's true name/form) appears as Haruka is because she appears to Ayato as the one he most wishes to see in his heart.
The end of the series shows us a new world that Ayato has created in which the MU never take over Tokyo (in theory perhaps they never existed at all in this world) and he and Haruka are married and have a baby girl (Quon, another character in RahXephon, who's role in this story is as equaly complicated as this summary of A & H's relationship is ;P
I love RahXephon mainly for the relationship between Ayato & Haruka, they are one of my favorite couples in all of anime, and I'm a huge sucker for happy endings. RahXephon gives us just that. :)
