RahXephon is an amazing and breath-taking Science Fiction/Romance anime/manga series. The anime is 26 episodes long. The manga (which is quite different from the tv series and also alot more fanservice ladden) is three volumes long. There is also a movie, which retells the tv series from a different characters point of view and contains close to thirty minutes of new animateion. The series is about a teenager, Kamina Ayato who is taken by TERRA to help earth fight the MU, a group of aliens who have taken over Tokyo. It is called Tokyo Jupiter by people following it's capture and is where Ayato is from. He must choose to fight for TERRA or fight for all of the people and his life as he knew it til that point. As the story unfolds, the viewer realizes that life inside and outside of Tokyo Jupiter is not as simple as it may have outwardly appeared. Each character and event weaves a deeply complicated and moving tale of courage, the human spirit, love, emotion, and the strenght of individuals fighting for what they hold most precious. |
